Earth Sanctuary is a sculpture garden, nature reserve and retreat center with two miles of nature trails, bird-filled ponds and a variety of powerful sacred spaces. Experience the labyrinth, stone circles, medicine wheels, Buddhist stupa, megalithic monuments, prayer wheels, and artwork.


Regular hours:

Open every day during daylight hours. $7 per person. Cash, check, PayPal, and Venmo accepted. No dogs please.

Driving directions:

There are two parking areas: 2059 Newman Road and 5536 Emil Road, Langley, WA 98260. Directions are on the Earth Sanctuary website. There are metal boxes beside the bulletin boards where you make your cash or check payment. Venmo and PayPal payment preferred.

Chuck Pettis, spiritual land artist, is the owner and creator of Earth Sanctuary, a 72-acre sacred space sculpture garden, retreat center, and nature reserve located on Whidbey Island in Washington state.

Author of the book, Secrets of Sacred Space: Discover and Create Places of Power, Chuck has created sacred spaces designed for meditation and prayer that bring together ancient art forms, a profound connection with nature, and diverse global spiritual traditions. With a 500-year plan to restore the 72-acres of Earth Sanctuary to mature old-growth forest with maximum diversity of birds, wildlife, plants, and fungi, Earth Sanctuary is an exemplary model for ecological design and “Designing with Nature.”
