About the Whidbey Art Trail

Established in 2011

What is the Whidbey Art Trail?

The Whidbey Art Trail is a year-round tour of Whidbey Island visual artist’s studios and galleries. As a program of the Whidbey Island Arts Council, the Whidbey Art Trail is a non-profit arts organization promoting the arts on scenic Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, Washington. We are committed to establishing an internationally recognized arts destination by marketing creative artists through the Art Trail, website, and brochure/map.

The goal of the Whidbey Art Trail is to attract arts-minded travelers and patrons to visit the island from around the globe by providing year-round access to the studios of Whidbey’s many talented artists and artisans.

Where is the Whidbey Art Trail Located?

The Art Trail is located on Whidbey Island (historical spelling Whidby) which is found in Island County, Washington, in the United States. Whidbey is located about 30 miles (48 km) north of Seattle, and lies between the Olympic Peninsula and the I-5 corridor of western Washington. The island forms the northern boundary of Puget Sound.

Often referred to as Puget Sound’s Largest Artist’s Colony, Whidbey is home to numerous working artists, writers, and performers. These include many well-known painters, sculptors, glass artists, wood workers, metal workers, mixed media artists, photographers, authors, poets, actors, and musicians.

How is the Whidbey Art Trail Funded?

The Whidbey Art Trail is funded primarily by artist registration fees, sponsors and donations. The Whidbey Art Trail is a program of the Whidbey Island Arts Council (WIAC), which maintains all financial records for the Whidbey Art Trail. Funds received by WIAC for the Whidbey Art Trail are restricted for use only for the Whidbey Art Trail.

How do I start my Whidbey Art Trail Experience?
